The MD/DC/NoVA Chapter of HRS is always seeking dedicated volunteers. You don’t need any special skills, and you can do as much or as little as your time allows.

There are many ways in which you can help HRS rescue unwanted rabbits and find them a permanent home. They include helping with our fundraising projects; staffing education tables; fostering rabbits; transporting rabbits and supplies; hosting rabbit matches; counseling people on the rabbit phone line; working with local shelters; writing articles for our newsletter. To get started just fill out the following form as completely as possible.

  8. I would like to help with:
  9. People are always needed to help educate the public about the advantages of a rabbit as a household pet. We need people who are willing to help distribute literature; mail out information; staff education tables at fairs and shows. People with more rabbit experience and knowledge are needed to hold rabbit care seminars; facilitate classes and counsel people who call the rabbit phone line. Training will be provided.
  10. People are needed to help us raise money to pay for the care of our foster rabbits. We are looking for people willing to help organize our yearly fundraising projects; cookie and Easter candy sales and garage sale. People are also needed to provide bunnysitting services for our members.
  11. We are always looking for people who are able to open their hearts and homes to foster rabbits. Foster homes are needed so we are able to remove more rabbits from local shelters. We are also in need of special foster homes for our harder to adopt special needs rabbits. Volunteers are needed to help in existing foster homes to help with rabbit maintenance and socialization. If you can not foster a rabbit there are other ways to help. We need people to drive rabbits to vet appointments and between our MD and NoVA foster homes. We need people to open their homes or places of business to host rabbit matches (where prospective adopters and their rabbits meet foster rabbits). We also need people to check with their local shelter and report on the current rabbit residents.
  12. People with creative writing ability are needed to help with our local newsletter, The Clover Leaf. We need people to help with writing articles, editorial assistance and production. At times we also have a need for people to help with general desktop publishing odd jobs; ads, banners, brochures and graphic design; t-shirts, logos.
  13. We are looking for people with new ideas to help us rescue more rabbits. If you have any ideas please volunteer and bring your ideas.
